Elaine Gale was a religion reporter for the Los Angeles Times, an advice columnist and pop culture reporter for the Star Tribune, and a writer for the Boston Phoenix. She's a Full Professor at California State University, Sacramento, and Writing Center Director for the Graduate School of Leadership and Change at Antioch University. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University Los Angeles and a PhD in Communication from University of Denver.
Elaine is a professional storyteller, and a founding member of the performance troupe ANIMA and the artistic collective called Nectar. She has performed a sold-out run of her solo show, ONE GOOD EGG, in the United Solo Theater Festival in New York City. She’s performed in storytelling shows including Strong Words, the Moth, Revealed, VAMP, Riveted, The Rapp Saloon, Gorgeous Stories, Backbone, It's Funny Now, TrueStory, and The Comedy Spot.
She's a sixth-generation Nebraskan, and is the Founder of the Silverlake Trash Club, which has picked up over 2,000 bags of neighborhood trash since 2021. Their masot is the unicorn becuase it's magical and has a built-in trash grabber. She's published in literary and mainstream publications, including Under the Gum Tree and The Manifest-Station, Hags on Fire, W, Entertainment Weekly, Cosmopolitan, and Good Housekeeping, despite the irony.
